The closed reel steel long tape features a classic vinyl clad steel case design with a rugged rewind mechanism for single user convenience and nylon rollers at case opening to reduce blade wear and for sustained field use. Blades are produced with high visibility, easy-to-read graduations, and a folding hook ring. One side in inch diameter (pi) measurements with 100th vernier scale and the other side is graduated in 1/8" and numbered in consecutive inches to each foot and repeat.
Key Features
-
Dual-Sided Blade
- One side graduated in 1/8" increments for standard linear measurements
- Reverse side designed for direct diameter measurement (Pi Tape)
-
Diameter Measurement Function
- Measures diameter by wrapping around a circular object
- Based on the formula:
Diameter = Circumference ÷ π - Eliminates the need for manual calculation
-
Case Construction
- Vinyl-clad steel closed reel
- Manual rewind mechanism
- Folding hook ring for secure positioning
How to Use
Linear Measurement (1/8" Side)
- Pull the folding hook ring to extend the tape
- Secure the hook on an edge or hold it at the starting point
- Extend the tape to the desired length
- Read the measurement in feet and inches
Diameter Measurement (Pi Tape Side)
- Locate the side marked for diameter measurement
- Wrap the tape around the object (pipe, tree, or other round surface)
- Ensure the tape is flat and not twisted; keep edges parallel
- Read the diameter directly from the tape
